Since 1983 the MCPI has been comprised of corporations
and sole proprietors who care deeply about the private investigation
industry and the public image presented.
The MCPI has several objectives:
- Project a positive public image of honesty, ethics,
high standards, and integrity
- Keep abreast of all state or federal legislative and
regulatory activity affecting the industry including new
or proposed laws and issues
- Bring about networking for the membership, so as to
provide referrals and quality subcontractors throughout
the state
- Training and education to keep members up to speed on
current methods, techniques, and technology
- Work together as an organized group to bring about fair
legislation that will benefit both the investigator, the
client, and the public
The MCPI Can:
- Provide legislators an organization to consult regarding
pending bills and hearings
- Provide knowledgeable and experienced investigators
to give testimony on issues concerning the industry
- Point consumers to reputable companies anywhere in the
state
- Benefit members by working to establish good working
relationships

- A legislative committee that monitors state activities
and is kept informed by NCISS [National Council of Investigation
and Security Services] on federal matters
- Retain a Peer Review Committee to investigate alleged
infractions of the approved Standards and Ethics of MCPI
members
MCPI’s Mission:
- To secure a more professional relationship among licensed
private investigators
- To encourage the elevation of an impeccable degree of
standards so as to form an elite corps of investigators
- To promote and encourage the continuing training and
education of its members in the many and diverse areas
of the profession of private investigation
- To continue to secure for membership honorable men and
women and encourage them to their highest standards of
professional and personal conduct in both their vocational
and private lives
- To assist each other in all matters as a close-knit
and confidential organization
- To maintain proper public relations and liaisons between
the MCPI and law enforcement agencies of this state
- To monitor federal and state legislative and regulatory
activities affecting the investigation industry
